Over 50 Individuals Arrested in Phnom Penh’s Bar Raid

Phnom Penh: Phnom Penh Municipal Police have raided a gay bar on Friday evening resulted to the arrest of more than 50 people – mixed of locals and foreigners. The capital’s police office has received reports that despite the closure implemented against the high-risk businesses and a ban on gathering of more than people, the “Blue Chilli Bar & Café” has continued to operate.

The operation yielded to the arrest of different nationals caught in the act of partying at the bar located in the capital’s Street 178 in Chey Chumneah commune, Daun Penh district. Arrested individuals have undergone Covid-19 testing as part of the protocol in curbing the spread of the disease, especially the delta variant. Phnom Penh administration has prepared legal charges to be filed against the violators.
